Numbing mouthwash for mouth ulcers

It is usually mixed by a pharmacy with a prescription from a doctor. Sig: Swish, gargle, and spit one to two teaspoonfuls every six hours as needed. Shake well before using. There are multiple formulations that are called “Magic Mouthwash” used to treat mouth sores and sore throat.


Each of these mouthwashes includes different ingredients and strengths although there is a consistency in the types of drugs used. Hold the liquid in your mouth and gently swish it around for a minute or two.

Swallowing it may cause. Also known as “Miracle mouthwash”, it helps to relieve painful mouth sores due to oral ulcers and upper throat irritation. Magic Mouthwash is a mouth rinse often prescribed for people with mouth sores ( oral mucositis ) who are receiving chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or some targeted therapies. If you have multiple canker sores in the mouth , the typical dose is 5ml swished around the mouth and then spat out.


For mouth ulcers far back in the throat or on the roof of the mouth , the solution can be gargled. If you only have one sore , you might just dab the compound on your ulcer using an eyedropper or a cotton swab. Especially for something as common as a sore throat. A saline mouthwash may relieve the pain of traumatic ulceration.


The mouthwash is made up with warm water and used at frequent intervals until the discomfort and swelling subsides.

Swish one-half of a capful (teaspoons = 10mL) around the mouth and over the affected area for at least minute, then spit out. Keep away from heat or direct sunlight. What can cause numbness in my mouth?

I suggest trying out one of the following. Zilactin-B – A thick medicated gel containing Benzocaine to provide pain relief by numbing the ulcer. This gel forms a film over the mouth sore and it lasts up to six hours.


Essentially it seals in the medication and helps prevent bacteria from getting into the ulcer. It can be used up to four times per day. It goes on a dark purple so you can see where you are putting it so you don’t end up numbing your whole mouth.


Poor-fitting dentures and braces or rough fillings that rub against the mouth , gums, or tongue. The constant friction of the mouth or tongue against crooked or sharp teeth. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever like ibuprofen, or use an OTC numbing gel.


These are available at your local pharmacy. Guys, put a fresh ice cube in a thick paper towel, place on ulcer for mins to numb the ulcer and reduce swelling. Add Listerine, or any other particularly strong mouthwash.

Lidocaine is indicated for the production of topical anesthesia of irritated or inflamed mucous membranes of the mouth and pharynx. It is also useful for reducing gagging during the taking of X-ray pictures and dental impressions.
