Chlorhexidine to clean wounds

How to clean a wound with chlorhexidine? Chlorhexidine topical is for use only on the skin. Rinse the skin before applying chlorhexidine topical. Apply only enough medicine to cover the area you are treating. Do not apply this medicine to deep cuts, scrapes, or open skin wounds.

In the past acetic aci chlorhexidine , honey, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite, potassium permanganate and proflavine have been used. Some of these products seem to be making a return,. I prefer a solution to limit tissue irritation but solutions are also widely used. Apply an antimicrobial ointment to the wound.
