What if root canal is not done

Your teeth may have to be removed if you do not have a root canal to remove the infected pulp. Root canal treatment is necessary when the pulp (soft tissue inside your teeth containing blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue) becomes inflamed or diseased. The pulp chamber and root canal (s) of the tooth are then cleaned and sealed.

Infections usually occurs due to an injury, a chip or crack in the tooth, or a severe, untreated cavity. Root Canal Treatment Can Save the Tooth.

If you neglect treatment of a root canal problem long enough, you’re at serious risk for losing the infected tooth. And tooth loss, once it starts, can bring on a host of other problems — like an increased risk of tooth decay on remaining teeth, as well as gum disease, bite problems… an as oral health problems escalate , even more tooth loss. Once the pulp inside a tooth becomes infecte serious complications can occur if not treated with a root canal.

If your tooth needs a root canal and is not painful, then it must be a dead tooth. When a tooth is dea it is a source of infection which is not good. It is possible that it could hurt in the future due to infection.

A root canal fails when a tooth that has been previously treated with a root canal procedure becomes infected at the root.

If this infection is allowed to continue to develop without proper treatment, the infection can potentially spread to other teeth in the area or cause illness in other parts of the body. So it is very important to have the core and if needed the crowns put on promptly after root canal treatment. Another way root canals fail is if the tooth was fractured before treatment or even after. Fractured teeth will eventually fail no matter what treatments are done. This is why crowns are suggested on back teeth after root canal therapy.

If the root canal is not completed on the same day, a temporary filling is placed in the exterior hole in the tooth to keep out contaminants like saliva and food between appointments. No dentist wants to trim away sound tooth structure. Since a part of root canal treatment involves cleaning the entire length of the tooth, what your endodontist has stated about the other dentists not achieving that would likely explain your continued symptoms. A root canal does not kill the tooth, and after a root canal is complete, the tooth will be able to function as it normally does. However, root canals do remove the nerves inside the tooth, but these nerves serve very little function in a fully formed tooth.

Dentin (the seemingly hard material between the enamel and the canal ) is made up of millions of tiny tubules. If no treatment is done , the infection in the tooth and root can spread to surrounding area of the mouth and tissue spaces leading to swelling, pain and infection. If you took the tubules from just one tooth and placed them end-to-en they would span approximately three miles. New, unrelated issues can also affect treated teeth.

These include: Recent decay unmasking the root canal filling to bacteria, thereby causing new infection.

Cracke broken, fracture or loose fillings and crowns. After a root canal is done, the dead tooth, not sometimes, but always becomes an environment conducive to harboring chronic infection and toxicity. Because there is no reliable way, practically speaking, to completely sterilize a root canal treated tooth, (while it is still in a patient’s mouth), it will be a source of infection for the whole body until it is extracted and the tooth socket is cleaned. If a tooth fractures below the gums, there’s no way to save it and it must be extracted.

Most teeth require a protective crown after a root canal. Patients risk a fractured tooth by waiting too long to return to. This can lead to something called a dental abscess.

A root canal infection can occur for several reasons, though the basic root of the problem is always the penetration of bacteria into the pulp. Reasons for root canal infections are determined by the way the bacteria invades the tooth pulp. In this paragraph, we list the main causes of such an infection. A modern root canal treatment is nothing like those old sayings! It’s very similar to a routine filling and can usually be completed in one or two appointments, depending on the condition of your tooth and your personal circumstances.

Getting a root canal is relatively painless and extremely effective.
